One of our modern partner clinics in Hanoi.
If you’ve been quoted tens of thousands of dollars for full arch dental implants in New Zealand, it’s understandable to start looking at alternatives.
Vietnam is increasingly appearing in that research.
All on 4 treatment in Hanoi can cost considerably less than comparable treatment in New Zealand, but price is only one part of the decision. The clinic, implant system, treatment plan, time required overseas, healing period and aftercare all matter.
I recently travelled to Hanoi to visit dental clinics in person and better understand how major implant treatment is carried out for international patients.
Here’s what New Zealand patients should know before making a decision.
What is All on 4?
All on 4 is a full arch dental restoration where a fixed set of replacement teeth is supported by four dental implants.
Rather than replacing every missing tooth with an individual implant, the implants support a complete upper or lower arch.
Some patients may require more than four implants depending on their individual situation. You may therefore also see treatment described as All on 6 or full arch implant treatment.
Only a qualified dental professional can determine which approach is appropriate after reviewing your dental health, scans and medical history.
How much does All on 4 cost in Vietnam compared with New Zealand?
Cost is often what starts the research.
Full arch implant treatment can represent a significant investment in New Zealand. For suitable patients, treatment in Hanoi can offer substantial potential savings.

These figures are indicative only and are provided as a general comparison, not a treatment quote. Actual costs vary depending on the clinic, individual treatment plan, implant system, restoration material, case complexity and any additional procedures required. Flights, accommodation and other travel expenses are not included.
The important thing is to compare like with like.
A lower advertised price may involve a different implant system, restoration material or set of inclusions. Before making a decision, patients should understand exactly what is included in each treatment plan.
Why can dental treatment cost less in Vietnam?
Vietnam has different wages, operating costs and overheads from New Zealand. This can allow clinics to provide dental treatment at substantially different prices.
Lower cost alone, however, should never be the reason for choosing a clinic.
During my visits to Hanoi, I saw clinics working with internationally recognised implant systems including Straumann, Neodent and MIS.
Patients should understand the implant system being proposed, the number of implants, temporary and final teeth, restoration material, warranty conditions and any procedures excluded from the quote.
The question shouldn’t simply be “How much cheaper is it?”
It should also be “What exactly am I getting for that price?”
How long do you need to stay in Hanoi?
This is one of the most important practical considerations.
Major full arch implant treatment commonly involves two visits rather than one trip where everything is permanently completed.
A typical pathway may look something like this.
First visit
Depending on the treatment plan and clinic, the first visit may require approximately 8 to 14 days, with more complex cases potentially requiring longer.
Assessment and scans are completed, followed by any required extractions and implant surgery. Where clinically appropriate, temporary teeth may then be fitted.
Healing period
A healing period of approximately three to six months may be required.
The implants need time to integrate with the jawbone. The treating dental professional determines the appropriate healing period for each patient.
Second visit
The implants are reassessed and, where appropriate, the final restoration is produced and fitted.
Exact timelines vary between patients and clinics. More complex full mouth cases can require longer stays or additional treatment.
This is why patients should understand the entire treatment pathway before booking flights rather than simply comparing a headline price.
Can you really get new teeth the next day?
You’ll sometimes see overseas dental treatment advertised as “teeth in a day.”
That needs context.
Some suitable patients may receive a temporary fixed restoration shortly after implant placement. That does not necessarily mean the entire treatment is permanently completed within 24 hours.
There can still be a healing and integration period before the final restoration is fitted.
Before travelling, ask exactly what you will leave the clinic with after your first visit and what treatment remains for the second.
What should you ask about the implants?
Implants are intended to remain in your body for many years, so knowing what is being used matters.
Before proceeding, ask about:
The implant manufacturer and exact system
The number of implants being placed
The material used for the final restoration
Whether temporary and final restorations are included
What warranties apply
What happens if an implant requires attention after you return home
You should also request copies of your treatment records and implant details.
Don’t settle for a quote that simply says “All on 4 package.”
You should know what the package actually contains.
What about aftercare back in New Zealand?
This is one of the biggest considerations with overseas dental treatment.
Once you return to New Zealand, the clinic that performed your treatment is thousands of kilometres away.
Before travelling, understand what follow up is required, how the Hanoi clinic handles complications, what warranty conditions apply and what ongoing maintenance your restoration will require.
It is also worth discussing your plans with your existing New Zealand dentist where appropriate.
Patients should keep copies of their scans, treatment records, implant information and final treatment plan.
Hanoi Dental Concierge recognises that continuity of care is an important consideration for anyone considering treatment overseas, and it is something we encourage patients to think about before committing to treatment.
Is All on 4 in Vietnam right for everyone?
No.
Suitability depends on an individual clinical assessment and can be affected by a range of dental and general health factors.
In some cases, preserving existing teeth may be preferable to extracting them for a full arch restoration.
The decision should be based on a proper clinical assessment rather than simply on the treatment someone wants to purchase.
Choosing a dental clinic in Hanoi
This is where overseas treatment can become overwhelming.
Search online and you’ll find dozens of clinics, impressive websites, reviews, packages and very different prices.
When I travelled to Hanoi, I wanted to see clinics in person rather than build Hanoi Dental Concierge around internet research alone.
I toured facilities, met clinic teams and discussed how they manage international patients, major implant cases, treatment timelines, implant systems, restorative materials, warranties and communication.
For major treatment, I would look beyond the cheapest quote.
Experience with complex implant cases, communication, treatment planning, transparency, infection control and sterilisation protocols, recognised implant systems and what happens when something doesn’t go according to plan all matter.
How Hanoi Dental Concierge helps
Hanoi Dental Concierge is a New Zealand based advisory and referral service helping people explore dental treatment options in Hanoi.
We are not a dental clinic and do not provide dental advice.
Our role is to help make the process less confusing.
That can include helping you understand the overseas treatment process, connecting you with selected Hanoi clinics, facilitating treatment plan requests and indicative estimates, helping you compare the information provided and making sure you know the practical questions to ask before making your own decision.
I started HDC after having dental treatment in Vietnam myself and later returning to Hanoi to visit clinics and investigate the process more closely.
The goal is simple: help people make a more informed decision before travelling halfway around the world for major dental treatment.

You don’t need to have decided that Vietnam is right for you.
If you already have recent X rays, scans or a New Zealand treatment plan, these can provide a useful starting point for a Hanoi clinic to review your case.
